The 2nd (2026) High-Tech Innovation and Development Conference, themed "Building a Foundation with High-Tech, Creating the Future through Intelligent Innovation", was held at the National Convention and Exhibition Center (Tianjin). Yuchai showcased zero-carbon power products including the YCK06H hydrogen internal combustion engine flywheel range extender system in the special achievement exhibition area of the conference, presenting the company's independent innovation achievements and industrial application progress in hydrogen and ammonia internal combustion engines.
Co-hosted by Tianjin University and the Talent Exchange Center of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the conference gathered more than 2,500 representatives from government, industry, academia and research sectors. It showcased cutting-edge high-tech achievements, focused on fostering new quality productive forces, and boosted the high-quality advancement of new industrialization.
The Yuchai YCK06H hydrogen-powered flywheel range extender system on display is China's first hydrogen-fueled range-extended power unit put into commercial application. Deeply integrated with a 120 kW electric motor, it is developed for scenarios including public transit, sanitation vehicles and light trucks for urban distribution.
Supported by a complete industrial supply chain, the system runs on industrial by-product hydrogen instead of high-purity hydrogen (99.9%) required for fuel cells, significantly lowering operational costs. It enables stable cold starts at temperatures as low as -30°C, tackling the cold resistance challenge of hydrogen energy equipment. Renovated from well-established internal combustion engine production lines, the product boasts fully coordinated component supply chains and assembly lines, supporting large-scale delivery and offering solid backing for the commercial rollout of the hydrogen energy industry.
During the exhibition, Gao Dongsheng, Chief Economist of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and his entourage visited Yuchai's booth. They received briefings on the R&D and industrialization progress of products such as the YCK06H hydrogen internal combustion engine flywheel range extender system and the YCK15A ammonia internal combustion engine. Gao fully recognized Yuchai's achievements in adhering to independent innovation and developing zero-carbon hydrogen and ammonia power technologies.
