On October 20, the Weigang hydrogen heavy-duty truck exhibition event was held in Beijing. Two heavy commercial vehicles equipped with Yuchai hydrogen power systems made their public debut. This marks a substantial step forward in the cooperation between Weigang and Yuchai in the field of hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles, delivering new technical solutions and practical references for the zero-carbon transformation of heavy-duty logistics.

Two key models were showcased on site: an 8X4 plug-in hydrogen extended-range hybrid flatbed truck and a 6X4 fuel cell semi-trailer tractor. The 8X4 plug-in hydrogen extended-range hybrid flatbed truck is fitted with Yuchai YCK06H hydrogen internal combustion engine, China's first hydrogen-fueled extended-range power product put into commercial use. Built on Yuchai's 70-year heritage of power technology, it adopts advanced technologies including port multi-point injection, high-efficiency low-inertia turbocharging and high-efficiency lean combustion. It successfully tackles industry challenges such as backfire and knock of hydrogen engines, achieving zero carbon emissions, and provides a cost-effective solution for low-carbon transition in heavy commercial vehicles, construction machinery and other sectors.

The other 6X4 fuel cell semi-trailer tractor is equipped with Yuchai's 200kW fuel cell system. Upgraded across three generations of platforms, the system reaches a hydrogen utilization rate of over 98% with a cold start time under 140 seconds, outperforming the industry average. Featuring high efficiency and energy saving plus excellent environmental adaptability, it meets operational requirements under complex working conditions such as long-haul logistics transportation.

Covering hydrogen internal combustion engines and fuel cells, Yuchai is speeding up the development of a diversified hydrogen power product portfolio. The joint debut of these two hydrogen heavy-duty trucks represents a major achievement integrating Yuchai's hydrogen technology innovation and vehicle application.

Going forward, Yuchai and Weigang will deepen collaboration in vehicle adaptation optimization, scenario demonstration operation and market promotion. The two parties will continuously refine hydrogen internal combustion engine and fuel cell heavy truck products, explore commercialization paths for hydrogen heavy-duty trucks suited to domestic logistics scenarios, facilitate the green and low-carbon upgrade of the freight logistics industry, and contribute to the high-quality development of China's hydrogen commercial vehicle industry.
