Yuchai held the launch ceremony of its new YC16VTF engine at the National Engineering Research Center. The official launch of this new-generation 16-cylinder V-type power generation engine marks another major breakthrough for Yuchai in the field of high-speed high-power engines and demonstrates the company's strength and determination to lead the high-end marine and power generation power market with cutting-edge products. Shen Guang, General Manager of Yuchai Group, and Ning Xingyong, Senior Vice President of Yuchai Co., Ltd., jointly unveiled the YC16VTF engine at the event in October 15, 2025.
Driven by the continuous surge in global computing power demand, power generation technology is evolving rapidly toward higher reliability, energy conservation and environmental protection, intelligence, higher power ratings and diversified power solutions. The development of a new generation of high-speed high-power engines has become an urgent industry need. In response to industry trends and market demands, Yuchai has launched the brand-new YC16VTF engine, further complementing its product layout of high-end high-power power systems.
Adopting industry-leading design concepts, the Yuchai YC16VTF engine achieves dual technological breakthroughs in high strength and lightweight design, with a maximum power of 3,971 kW, fully meeting the application requirements of high-end 50Hz/60Hz generator sets. Benefiting from its serialized and modular structural design, the model can be adapted for multiple applications in the future. It is applicable to electric-drive mining trucks with a speed range of 1,800 to 2,100 r/min and other scenarios previously monopolized by foreign power brands, breaking overseas technical barriers.
In terms of core performance and technology, the Yuchai YC16VTF engine integrates a series of cutting-edge core technologies including high explosion pressure, high compression ratio, high-charge coefficient air passages, high injection pressure and high-efficiency supercharging, realizing efficient and clean combustion with both robust power and eco-friendly energy-saving performance. The minimum fuel consumption rate of the diesel version is ≤188g/kW·h, and the power generation efficiency of the gas version is ≥42%, placing its overall performance indicators at the internationally leading level. In addition, key engine components adopt high-safety special designs. CAE simulation runs through the entire product development process, and the engine has passed numerous rigorous tests, comprehensively improving its operational stability and reliability.
