On the morning of March 31, CCTV News reported that the world's largest tonnage range-extended Rotary Drilling Rig (RDR) was officially rolled off the production line and released in Changsha, Hunan Province. With an operating weight of 200 tonnes and a maximum torque of up to 620 kN·m, the rig is equipped with Yuchai's independently developed 300 kW Yuchai Flywheel Range-Extender System (Yuchai FRS), which provides stable and highly efficient energy support for the entire machine.
Compared with conventional all-electric equipment in the industry, this range-extended RDR retains the advantages of electric drive, such as low noise and fast response, while effectively solving the problems of range anxiety and charging constraints. For complex construction scenarios, it supports seamless switching among pure electric, range-extended and plug-in modes, fully adapting to diverse working conditions including urban construction, plateau operations and areas with insufficient power grid coverage.

Compact and Simplified Structure: The flywheel motor is directly connected to the engine crankshaft, eliminating redundant transmission links and shortening the length by more than 10% compared with the independent motor scheme.
High-Efficiency and Fuel-Saving Power Generation: Adopting deep Miller cycle + high-efficiency combustion coupling technology, the motor system achieves a maximum efficiency of ≥94%.
Intelligent Strategy Adapting to Working Conditions: It supports multi-mode switching including single-point power generation, multi-point regulation and power following, accurately matching the complex load changes of rotary drilling rigs (RDRs).
