The Vietnam 21×1800kW (16VC) + 1×1000kW generator set project has a total installed capacity of 38,800kW (38.8MW). It is a robust backup and independent power supply cluster designed for high-reliability industrial applications in Vietnam. The project is equipped with 21 Yuchai YC16VC diesel generator sets as main power units, supported by one 1000kW auxiliary generator, forming an integrated power system featuring coordinated operation, multi-unit parallel operation, and intelligent control. All configurations and technical specifications strictly comply with the official standards of Yuchai's VC platform.
 
The YC16VC engine is a high-power unit developed on Yuchai's modular VC platform. It features a V-type 16-cylinder, four-stroke, four-valve design with a bore and stroke of 200×210mm, a displacement of 105.5L, and a rated speed of 1500rpm. Equipped with turbocharging and intercooling as well as four high-efficiency turbochargers, the engine delivers fast load response. It uses an electronically controlled unit pump fuel system and electronic governing, with a prime power rating of 2005–2673kW, suitable for prime power applications from 1800kW to 2400kW and standby power from 2000kW to 2600kW. This makes it perfectly matched to the 1800kW operating conditions of the project. Compliant with China Non-road Stage III emission standards, the engine measures 3945×1644×2218mm and has a net weight of 11,400kg, ensuring stable and continuous long-hour operation.

The system is equipped with an intelligent parallel and grid-connection control cabinet, enabling automatic synchronization, load sharing, fault isolation, and redundant switching between multiple units. Together with the 1000kW auxiliary unit, it supports black start, light-load energy-saving operation, and peak-load compensation, and intelligently optimizes the number of running units based on real-time load to improve overall system efficiency. The project is fully integrated with centralized fuel supply, high- and low-temperature cooling, noise and exhaust treatment, high-voltage distribution, fire protection, and remote monitoring systems, meeting industrial-grade requirements for unmanned operation, remote maintenance, and multi-level safety protection, while adapting well to local grid conditions and operating environments in Vietnam.

This project mainly supports high-continuity operations in large mines, metallurgical and chemical facilities, industrial parks, data centers, and other critical infrastructure in Vietnam. It effectively mitigates risks such as grid instability, power shortages, and voltage fluctuations, providing stable and reliable power support for essential loads. As a landmark example of China-Vietnam energy equipment cooperation, the project leverages Yuchai's mature YC16VC engine and full-process delivery system, implementing standardized workflows from manufacturing, factory testing, and cross-border transportation to on-site installation, commissioning, and after-sales service. It fully demonstrates the technical strength and service capacity of China's high-power diesel generating equipment in the Southeast Asian market, supporting Vietnam's industrial upgrading and infrastructure development.
