Project Background and Significance

As a key computing power infrastructure in central China, Zhongyuan Big Data Center (Xuchang, Henan) undertakes core businesses such as artificial intelligence training, cloud computing, and government data storage. Data centers require uninterrupted operation around the clock, imposing extremely high requirements on power supply reliability. The 7 units of 2000kW Yuchai 16VC high-power diesel generator sets serve as the core standby power supply, forming a three-level protection system together with municipal power and UPS systems. In the event of an sudden grid power outage, the units can start up and achieve full-load power supply within seconds, ensuring zero interruption of computing services and zero data loss. The project completed the delivery and joint commissioning of all units in 2024, becoming a key supporting project for the construction of Xuchang as a "computing power highland".

Core Configuration and Technical Advantages

The delivered 16VC (YC16VC) generator sets are V-type high-power diesel power units independently developed by Yuchai, with a rated power of 2000kW per unit. They are specifically designed for critical load scenarios such as large-scale data centers and large commercial complexes.

Strong Power and Fast Transient Response: Adopting electronically controlled unit pump, four-valve structure, and high-efficiency turbocharging and intercooling technology, the units have excellent load-carrying capacity and can output 110% overload power within one hour, meeting the demand for sudden load increases in data centers.

High Reliability and Long Service Life: Equipped with a high-strength V-type engine block and alloy steel forged crankshaft, the units feature low vibration and low noise, and can operate stably for a long time, adapting to the 7×24-hour working condition of data centers.

Energy Conservation, Low Emission and Adaptation to Green Computing Power: The fuel consumption rate is superior to that of domestic counterparts, meeting Tier II emission standards, which is consistent with the green and low-carbon development goals of Xuchang Data Center.
Convenient Maintenance and Reduced Operation Costs: Adopting a one-cylinder-one-head design and bilateral air intake layout, the units offer good maintenance accessibility, greatly shortening maintenance time and ensuring that the standby power supply is always in an available state.

Delivery and Value

In 2024, the 7 units of 16VC generator sets completed on-site installation, commissioning, and linkage testing, passing the acceptance inspection at one time and being officially delivered. With a total installed capacity of 14,000kW, the units can provide full-power and uninterrupted power guarantee for the core equipment of the data center in the event of municipal power interruption, building the "last line of defense" for the computing power infrastructure.

The successful delivery of these units not only enhances the power supply redundancy and emergency support capability of Zhongyuan Big Data Center, but also helps Xuchang improve the integrated "source-storage-load-grid" computing power ecosystem, supports Henan in building a computing power highland in central China, and provides solid power support for the development of the digital economy.
