On September 16, the Pinglu Canal, the first river‑sea access canal project coordinated and constructed at the national level since the founding of the People's Republic of China and a backbone project of the New International Land‑Sea Trade Corridor in Western China, was officially open to navigation. As core supporting power for the canal's navigation, the 5,000‑ton green intelligent demonstration vessel equipped with Yuchai marine main engines successfully passed through the Madao Lock. Delivering green and high‑efficient power, Yuchai provides solid power support for the river‑sea combined transportation corridor of the Pinglu Canal.
Stretching 134.2 kilometers in total, the Pinglu Canal is built in accordance with Class‑I inland waterway standards and accommodates vessels up to 5,000 tons. Upon its opening, the inland waterway distance for goods from Southwest China to reach the sea can be shortened by more than 560 kilometers. It fully opens up a convenient water‑transport access linking Southwest China to rivers and the sea, greatly improves regional logistics efficiency, and boosts the high‑quality development of Guangxi's marine‑oriented economy and the New International Land‑Sea Trade Corridor in Western China.
On the maiden navigation day, the 5,000‑ton cargo vessel completed the lock‑passing test at Madao Hub. Equipped onboard, the Yuchai YC6TFN marine gas engine operated stably and efficiently. Designed for various 5,000‑ton‑class inland vessels, this power series features low emissions, high reliability and outstanding cost‑effectiveness. It aligns perfectly with the Pinglu Canal's development positioning of green, smart and efficient shipping, and serves as a preferred power solution for eco‑friendly inland waterway transportation.
